The Burwood Art Prize encourages thoughtful reflections on cultural identity, personal narrative and a celebration of the many voices that shape contemporary multicultural Australia.
Burwood Council are pleased to announce that the 2026 Burwood Art Prize includes a $20,000 acquisitive award, offering a significant opportunity for artists to have their work recognised and acquired for the Burwood Council Collection.
Open to Sydney-based artists aged 16 years and over
Entrants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents
Artists may submit one artwork only
The 2026 Burwood Art Prize accepts works in the following mediums:
Painting, maximum 100cm x 100cm, including frame
Drawing, maximum 100cm x 100cm, including frame
Photography, maximum 100cm x 100cm, including frame
Works on Paper, maximum 100cm x 100cm, including frame
Works on Canvas, maximum 100cm x 100cm, including frame
Video works, maximum duration of 10 minutes, MOV or MP4 format
Small sculpture, maximum 50cm in any dimension
Council welcomes entries from artists at all stages of their careers and look forward to presenting a considered selection of works as part of the 2026 Burwood Art Prize exhibition.
