Throught the Canterbury Road Underpass mural project, the City of Canterbury Bankstown invites experienced mural artists to create a major public artwork along the Cooks River cycleway, transforming the underpass beneath Prout’s Bridge into a vibrant and meaningful community space. The project aims to enhance visual amenity, reduce vandalism and strengthen local identity by reflecting the local character, stories and shared experiences through the theme “our river, our future.”
The mural should celebrate the ecological significance, Indigenous heritage, historical milestones and natural landscape of the area while building community pride and connection to place. Installed within the expanded underpass area, the artwork must deliver a cohesive visual narrative and be developed in collaboration with local community groups.
