Applications for 2026 residences close: Sunday 30 November 2025 at 5pm AEDT
North Sydney Council’s Creative Spaces Program supports creative practitioners by providing access to dedicated studio spaces across the local government area. The program is part of Council’s commitment to increasing the number of places and spaces available for cultural participation and creative production.
The Creative Spaces program supports up to 11 creative practitioners or collectives annually across three key creative hubs:
Primrose Park Artists' Studios, Cremorne
Coal Loader Artist's Studio, Waverton
Alfred Street Artists' Studios, Milsons Point
Each creative hub has its own distinct character, and facilities with spaces suitable for a broad range of creative practices including visual arts, writing, design, curation, new technologies, digital media, performance, and more.
In 2026, Council is also offering two dedicated, fully subsided First Nations Residencies with additional cultural support and mentorship, and a community-engagement focused, fully subsided residency at the Coal Loader.
Creative practitioners benefit from:
A program that values and supports diverse creative practices
A dedicated, partially or fully subsidised studio space for 12 months
Paid opportunities to share their work with the community for example, through artist talks, panels and presentations
Access to a Council funded, structured professional development program that may include, skills sessions, professional headshots, structured visiting artist or curator programs and support in planning and delivering public programs
Opportunity to develop work and contribute to the creative life of North Sydney
Applications for 2026 residences close Sunday 30 November 2025 at 5pm AEDT.
Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 8 December.
Successful applicants to attend a welcome and onboarding session on Friday 30 January 2026.

Alfred Street Artists' Studio – 2 March 2026
All residencies are for a fixed 12-month period. Deferral of residency commencement dates are not possible.
