The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens is a community-created, not-for-profit garden built and sustained by local support. Holding various monthly workshops, seasonal plant sales, and flagship open gardens and festival event annually in Autumn.
A young garden having opened in 2013, the grounds are set across 13.5 hectares, showcasing the beauty of cool-climate plantings and the changing seasons. Visitors can explore native and exotic landscapes, learn through self-guided information trails, and discover nationally recognised plant collections, including birch, boxwood, dogwood, and the renowned Tony Davis daffodils.
The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens are also restoring the endangered Southern Highlands shale woodland, creating a living, evolving landscape that reflects both heritage and future growth. With something to inspire in every season, the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens is a place to return to time and again:
We run a market each season. Our collector plant fairs include, coffee and food stalls, sausage sizzle BBQ, bakery and cake stall vendors, gardening craft and children’s gift stalls, and gardening equipment vendor. These run 4 times a year (for each season, plus Christmas)
Venue hire for gatherings and celebrations: our Bunya Pavilion is a new modern venue offering an affordable and very unique venue options in the Southern Highlands, being based within the botanic gardens – we often have our own functions here of which we use musical entertainers, caterers - and we also have clients who are hiring ask us for recommendations
In Autumn each year we have our flagship annual event – the Southern Highlands Autumn Gardens Weekend & Plant Fair. This event runs over two days (Saturday and Sunday) of an April weekend. Stalls at our onsite market - e.g. honey farm tour, high teas etc, entertainers, music - Jazz in the Gardens; and partner immersive experience ticketed options for the Monday – e.g. high tea, flower arranging workshop, honey bee workshop, farm tour etc.
